How Does Secure Messaging Work on TickTalk 5?
TickTalk's Secure Messaging Center helps families stay connected through a private, parent-controlled messaging system.
Unlike traditional SMS text messaging, Secure Messaging uses end-to-end encryption and only allows communication with approved contacts.
Why Use Secure Messaging Instead of SMS?
Secure Messaging provides several benefits over traditional SMS:
- End-to-end encrypted communication
- Parent-approved contacts only
- No unknown numbers can message your child
- Group Chats with family and approved contacts
- Voice messages
- Photos
- GIFs
- TickTalk stickers
- Greeting Cards
Because communication occurs within the TickTalk ecosystem, parents maintain control over who can contact their child.
Who Can Message My Child?
Only approved users can communicate with your child's watch.
Before someone can send Secure Messages, they must:
- Download the TickTalk App.
- Create a TickTalk App account.
- Request access to the watch.
- Be approved by the Administrator.
Unknown phone numbers cannot send Secure Messages to the watch.
What Can My Child Send?
Using Secure Messaging, children can send and receive:
- Text messages
- Voice messages
- Photos
- GIFs
- TickTalk stickers
- Greeting Cards
This allows children to communicate in a fun and engaging way while remaining within a parent-controlled environment.
How Do Group Chats Work?
Group Chats allow multiple approved users to participate in the same conversation.
To create a Group Chat:
- Open the Messages tab in the TickTalk App.
- Select Group Chat.
- Choose the approved contacts you would like to include.
- Name the group.
- Start messaging.
Group Chats are a convenient way for families to stay connected in a single conversation.
Where Can I Find Messages?
In the TickTalk App:
- Open the Messages tab from the bottom navigation.
- Select a conversation to begin messaging.
Messages sent from the app are delivered directly to your child's TickTalk watch.
Is Secure Messaging Encrypted?
Yes.
Secure Messaging uses end-to-end encryption designed to help protect your family's conversations and personal information.
