How Does Emergency SOS Work on TickTalk 5?
TickTalk 5 includes an Emergency SOS feature that allows children to quickly contact a trusted adult when they need help.
When activated, the watch will automatically call the designated Emergency SOS contact.
How to Set an Emergency SOS Contact
To add or update an Emergency SOS contact:
- Open the TickTalk App.
- Go to Parent Portal > Contacts.
- Select SOS Contact.
- Enter the phone number you want to use.
- Tap Confirm.
The watch will automatically update once it is online.
How to Activate Emergency SOS
To place an SOS call:
- Press and hold the red SOS button on the side of the watch for approximately 5 seconds.
- The watch will automatically call the designated Emergency SOS contact.
What Happens If the SOS Contact Does Not Answer?
If the Emergency SOS contact does not answer, the watch will automatically attempt to call the first two Parent Shortcut Dial contacts saved on the watch.
This helps ensure your child can reach a trusted adult as quickly as possible.
Does SOS Work During Focus Mode (DND)?
Yes.
Emergency SOS will continue to function even when the watch is in:
- Focus Mode
- Do Not Disturb (DND)
- School Mode
Emergency SOS is designed to remain available at all times for safety purposes.
Emergency SOS vs. 911 Calling
Emergency SOS and 911 Calling are separate features.
Emergency SOS
Emergency SOS calls a parent, guardian, or other designated Emergency SOS contact.
To activate Emergency SOS:
- Press and hold the red SOS button on the side of the watch for approximately 5 seconds.
The watch will automatically call the Emergency SOS contact saved in the TickTalk App.
911 Calling
911 Calling connects directly to emergency services.
To place a 911 call from the watch:
- Press the black side button once to wake the watch.
- Press the red SOS button twice.
- The watch will automatically call 911.
Parents will receive a notification when a 911 call is placed.
Can I Disable 911 Calling?
Yes.
Parents can disable 911 Calling from the TickTalk App.
To disable 911 Calling:
- Open the TickTalk App.
- Go to Parent Portal > Enable Watch Features.
- Turn off 911 Response.
Many parents of younger children choose to disable this feature to help prevent accidental calls to emergency services.
Important Note
911 Calling should only be used in a real emergency. Intentionally placing false emergency calls may violate local laws and regulations.
